To me, Frappuccino is always a fancy and cool drink with great flavour. It’s not easy to resist the temptation of this Starbucks beverage in a hot summer day, and “Wow” is the only word I can say after finishing a big size cup (of course!). That’s why it really surprised me that making Frappuccino at home is so simple and quick and the taste is somehow even better than the store-bought ones :)

In this post, I would like to introduce the three most popular and classic flavors of Frappuccino, namely strawberry, green tea (matcha) and mocha. As the method is fairly easy and requires almost no skill, key to good Frappuccino is high-quality ingredients. Whipping cream, milk, coffee, ice-cream…. from different brands can have different taste. So choose the ones that you like and you think taste good.

INSTRUCTIONS

Detailed step-by-step instructions and notes can be found in the video in Savoury Days’ YouTube channel (don’t forget to sign up and subscribe to receive the latest notifications as soon as our videos come out!). You can watch below or at this link.

1. Add all ingredients into the blender and blend well. Pour into a glass and top with whipped cream (optional). Frappuccino is best to be served immediately when it’s cool.

2. Feel free to change the amount of ingredients and adjust the flavour to your taste, for example:
– If it is too sweet, add more fresh milk.
– If it is not sweet enough, add more sweetened condensed milk (You can add sugar instead; however, those with condensed milk have better flavour).
– Add coffee or chocolate syrup (see below) or tea powder if you prefer stronger coffee or tea taste.

3. How to make homemade chocolate syrup:

  • 30 g chocolate (45 – 55% cocoa)
  • 40 ml milk

Break the chocolate into pieces; add to a bowl together with milk. Boil some water in a pan. When the water is boiled, set heat to the lowest. Put the bowl of chocolate milk into the pan and stir constantly. The chocolate will melt thanks to the heat from water and combine with milk into a thin, runny and glossy chocolate syrup.

Get 30 ml for the Mocha Frappuccino recipe, save the rest to drizzle onto the whipped cream or for later use. Thickened chocolate syrup from the fridge can get runny again by steam boiling the same way it was made.
