Egg wash

Egg wash is a mixture of well-beaten eggs (egg yolks, egg whites or whole eggs) and a liquid (milk, cream, melted butter, water) to brush the top of a dough or pastry prior to baking to improve the appearance and quality of baked goods with shiny look, delicious aroma and brown crispy crust. It can also be used to coat toppings (seeds, nuts, sugar, chocolate chips) and prevent them from falling out during baking.
